After deciding to expand their data center, NSG brought in Puckett Engineering to determine the additional I.T. load that could be added to both sides of the data center and the size required for adding an additional UPS system. A portion of the racks required redundant power and a portion of the racks required a single power source.  To determine the maximum load that could be added, the study determined which portion of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems would reach their capacity first. This included evaluating loading scenarios for the electrical service, generator, UPS systems, and computer room air conditioning systems. Also, grounding and surge protection were reviewed for the electrical service, generator (power and controls), and UPS.
