To enhance security measures at Madison Middle School, Puckett Engineering designed an IP-based video surveillance system that included 32 IP video cameras at various locations inside and outside of the building. The IP-based system offered several advantages over an analog system, including web access and digital recording. Camera positions were coordinated with the principal and security resource officer. The system included a Network Video Recorder (NVR), data cabling, lightning/surge protection, and power circuits. Since the cameras were added to an existing building, the installation was designed to maintain the building’s aesthetics by concealing cabling where possible, painting conduits and boxes and routing exposed cables and conduits inconspicuously.
