Puckett Engineering designed the replacement and upgrade of the airfield lighting for Union Springs Airport. The project included a comprehensive upgrade of the airfield lighting for the airport’s 4,000-foot runway and associated taxiway. This included medium intensity runway, taxiway, and threshold elevated lighting, REILs, wind cone, rotating beacon, and provisions for future PAPIs and a future runway extension. The project also included a reinforced facility (“vault”) for housing the power equipment that included steel construction with lightning protection. LED lighting was utilized for the wind cone, which substantially reduced the energy consumption for illuminating the wind cone. The project also included an electrical service for the vault facility, constant current regulators, grounding, surge protection, and radio controller. Construction administration services were also provided. PDF Case Study.
